New Home Accessories Category

I know our website title says “DSI-Hearing Assist”, but we’ve been expanding our products a bit. We have a brand new category of Home Assistance / Accessory Products. These things range from Food Storage, to Lumbar Support, to Safety Bars for your bathroom.

Food Storage:
These are products from Serene Innovations, the same people who bring you portable phone amplifiers, and high definition phones. Now they bring you Vacuum Seal Food Storage containers!!! I know your very excited. How they decided that after conquering the Amplified Phone Market, they would move to food containers, I don’t know. I guess the same technology applies. Well these containers are great for storing all kinds of food: dry, wet, damp, slightly dry, you get the point. Because they vacuum seal, very little moisture is lost which makes for fresher, better tasting food. Unlike some other containers, this one is sealed with a electric pump, meaning even for those who have limited mobility, this is an easy to use product.

Bath Grip:
This is a brand new item. A lot of our customers are elderly and may have problems getting in and out of the tub. This bar is easy to install because of two suction cups that stick to any non-porous surface. This means that porcelain, tile, glass will all hold secure. It also has a little safety indicator that shows whether a grip is secure or not, green means go ahead and pull, red means reattach the bar before it falls on something. With these little indicators, you can be assured that it’s secure.

Lumbar Support:
Bad Backs affect most of us. While I’m sitting here, I just realized that I’m hunched over, staring at the screen, with my feet propped over my head and my head at a 90 degree angle to my body. I know what a lot of you are thinking, that I just made that up and that position is not possible. If you don’t believe me, then I’ll send you a picture, and it won’t even be photoshopped (that much). But enough about my cat like flexiblity, I’m here to help you sit comfortably.
Our lumbar supports come in two different kinds: with vibrating massage, and without. They are both adjustable and portable. They are attached with a adjustable clip strap so that moving it to a different chair is easy and trouble free. The support itself is adjustable, letting you increase or decrease the amount of support you need. It props your back up, giving you better posture, and helps decrease the pressure on your lower back. Because your sitting straighter, you shoulders become squared and helps your typing, reducing the risk of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

AZTedp

DSI-Hearing Assist is based out of Arizona.  Being here raises a lot of questions: Just how large is the Grand Canyon? If you fell down the Grand Canyon, how long would you fall?  If a hiker falls down the Grand Canyon and no one was around, would he make a noise?  What tempature does the human body boil?  Can you really cook an egg on the side walk?  Who would want to eat an egg thats been cooked on the sidewalk?

But enough about what makes Arizona the air conditioning capital of America, lets talk about what makes Arizona a great place to call each other from, in the comfort of our frosty, well cooled houses with all the windows closed and the fans going.

There is a program in Arizona called AZTedp.  This stands for Arizona Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program.  Basically its a program that helps the hard of hearing get TTY and hearing assist products for free.  This is only for residents of Arizona.  How it works is that the State of Arizona will buy a product for you, and it will be on loan to you for 5 years so if anything goes wrong with your equipment, they will pay for it.  If you have trouble hearing on the phone, or need help hearing the door or your alarm you can qualify for this program.

To get an application, click here.  There are a few steps you need to take to get your free equipment:

1. Get your doctor to fill out the bottom part of that form.  It doesn’t have to be a hearing specialist, just your regular doctor.

2. Next make an appointment at one of these Demonstration Sites.  They will help your pick out what equipment will best suit your needs.  By answering a couple of questions, they can determine your level of hearing need.  Then you can try out some of the equipment and find one that you like.  This Link will take you to a list of what equipment is available, so you can browse and have some items in mind when you go to your appointment.

3.  When you turn in your application at one of the Demonstration Sites, you will receive a voucher form in the mail.  This might take a while, after all this is a government program.  Contact one of the the distributors (we are a distributor) and you can mail in your voucher form to them.

After that you only need to wait for you equipment to ship, or you can pick it up, sign the voucher saying that you’ve received the equipment, and your set for the next 5 years.

If you have any questions call us at 877-548-7003 and ask for our TTY expert.  He’ll walk you through the process and answer any questions you might have.
